Please read these Terms & Conditions before you book a course. If anything is not clear, then contact us.
Excel English Terms & Conditions are binding on all students, regardless of whether you have booked direct, through an agency, or any other party.
Booking your course and accommodation
You can either book directly with the school, or through an agency in your country. A place in classes at Excel English is guaranteed once we have received your deposit or full payment and processed your booking form. We will then send you - a letter confirming your booking an invoice a Certificate of Enrolment or Invitation if necessary information about your accommodation including travel details (this may arrive a few days after the other documents) confirmation of your airport transfer (if booked) details of your insurance (if booked) If we cannot accept your booking, we will offer you an alternative or refund your fees.
EU & Non Visa Nationals
If you are booking a minimum of 6 weeks before arrival, you must send a deposit of £300 GBP (£150 GBP without accommodation) with the booking form. This deposit will be deducted from the full fees due. The balance of the fees due must be received by the school a minimum of 2 weeks before the start of your course.
If you are booking less than 6 weeks before arrival, you must pay the fees in full when you book.
Visa Nationals
Full tuition fees, the booking fee (£40 GBP), accommodation arrangement fee (£35 GBP), textbook and learning materials fee (£20 GBP), insurance, airport transfers and 4 weeks accommodation, must be paid at the time of booking. The booking will NOT be processed or documents sent until the payment has been received.
If your application for a student visa is refused, you must send us the letter of refusal from the British Embassy and the original Excel English booking documents. When we have received these documents, we will refund the fees paid LESS the booking fee and accommodation arrangement fee, and any bank charges, as long as the cancellation is received a minimum of 1 week before the start of your course.
Payment
The prices quoted are for full payment in advance for course fees and accommodation. All payments must be in £ Sterling (GBP)
Payments can be made as follows:
- Cheque drawn on a British Bank, payable to Excel English
- Travellers cheques, payable to Excel English.

If you pay by Bank Transfer, we will charge an extra £10 GBP to cover UK bank charges. Please make sure the bank includes your name on the bank transfer document.
- Credit Card - please give the cardholder's full name, card name, number and expiry date. Visa nationals must pay the first 4 weeks fees by Bank Transfer. The balance of fees can then be paid by credit card.
Tuition Fees include
All tuition costs; placement & progress tests; London maps; student handbook; student card; regular tutorials; free Internet access; use of library & listening centre; some social activities; help and advice as required; university placement service; attendance certificate.
Tuition Fees DO NOT include
Accommodation; accommodation arrangement fee of £35 GBP; booking fee of £40 GBP; textbook(s) and learning materials (£20 GBP); UK bank charges; express postage charges; examination entry fees; travel; insurance; some social activities.
Age Limit
The minimum age is 17 years. There is no maximum age limit.
Changes BEFORE you start your course at Excel English
- We must receive written notice at least two weeks before you are due to begin that you want to change the dates you have booked.
- There is an administration charge of £25 GBP for every change made before the course starts.
- If you cancel two weeks or more before the start of your course we will refund your deposits in full except for the booking fee and accommodation arrangement fee, and any bank charges.
- If you cancel less than two weeks before your course is due to start, the deposits (£300 GBP or £150 GBP without accommodation) will be not be returned. Other fees paid will be refunded.
- If you cancel less than one week before your course is due to start, you will be charged the full deposit plus 1 week's course fee and 1 week's accommodation fee. Other fees paid will be refunded.
- We strongly recommend you to purchase insurance to cover cancellation in case of illness.
Changes AFTER you have started your course at Excel English
- You cannot cancel or change your course once you have started at Excel English or if you do not arrive on the agreed date.
- No refund of fees will be given if you leave early, but if you leave because you are ill or because of the death or serious illness of a close relative, you may be able to claim reimbursement of fees through your insurance. We strongly recommend you purchasing insurance.
- The Home Office Immigration Department will be informed about Visa National students who leave their course early.
Accommodation
- Accommodation is only arranged for full time students and only while you are studying at the school. If you leave the school, you will be asked to leave your accommodation.
- All accommodation is subject to availability. Please book early and give a second choice.
- All accommodation fees should be paid through the school.
- The school acts as an agent in booking accommodation. Your contract is with your accommodation provider.
- Send your full arrival details as soon as you have made your travel arrangements. If we do not receive your arrival details, your accommodation provider may not be at home when you arrive. If you would like us to book a meeting service, please tell us when you enrol.
- If you are unhappy with your accommodation, we will find you new accommodation as soon as possible.
- Friends or relatives cannot stay at your accommodation without express permission from the accommodation provider. Where guests are allowed, the provider may ask for extra payment.
- If you change your accommodation in an emergency, or you extend your course, no further accommodation arrangement fee will be charged. If you book fewer weeks of accommodation than your course, we will charge the £25 accommodation arrangement fee for each rebooking. This fee will also be charged if you leave Excel English accommodation and then ask to return to school accommodation.
- While every effort will be made to ensure you are happy with your accommodation, Excel English cannot guarantee you can stay with one accommodation provider throughout your stay. Changes might occur because of because of emergencies or on rebooking.
- If you go on holiday during your course, you will have to pay for your accommodation while you are away, unless you cancel your accommodation completely.
- If you decide to leave your accommodation early, you must give two week's notice in writing. Accommodation refunds will only be made for full calendar weeks.
Textbook & Library Deposit
- You will be asked to pay a deposit for your textbook on your first day in school.
- This deposit also allows you to borrow materials from the library.
- The deposit will be refunded on your last day in the school, less a £10 book hire fee, provided you have returned your textbook and all library materials in good condition.
- You can also purchase textbooks, dictionaries, etc through the school.
Extensions & Repeat Bookings
- If you want to extend your course or accommodation, please speak to the Registrar as soon as possible. Courses will be extended as long as there is space available.
- Payment for extensions must be made in full in advance.
- If you extend your booking or the return to school for a further course, the booking fee will not be charged.
Holidays
- Excel English is not open on Saturday or Sunday.
- The school is closed on public holidays. If your course includes (a)public holiday(s), you will not get a refund nor be allowed to take the lessons on another date.
- Holiday Dates 2005
January 1st - 3rd inclusive; March 25th; March 28th; May 2nd; May 30th; August 29th; December 19th - 31st inclusive.
- You can take one week’s holiday for every 12 consecutive weeks you are at the school.
- Holidays must be complete calendar weeks.
- You must give us at least two week's written notice of a holiday.
- There is an administrative charge of £25 GBP for each holiday booking, unless the holiday dates have been given at the time of initial booking.
- The holiday week(s) will be added to the end of your course. No refund will be given and extra accommodation must be paid for.
Absence
- We expect all students to come to lessons regularly and to arrive on time.
- We keep attendance registers.
- You will not receive a leaving certificate unless you attend a minimum of 80% of your course.
- The Home Office Immigration Department will be informed about any student who does not attend regularly.
- If you miss a lesson, regardless of the reason, we cannot give you a refund or allow you to take the lesson at some other time.
Conduct
- If we have to ask you to leave the school because your behaviour is unacceptable, you will not be entitled to any refund of fees.
- You will not be allowed to remain in Excel English accommodation.
- Unacceptable behaviour includes unsatisfactory attendance or work, aggressive physical or verbal behaviour towards other students or members of staff, substance abuse, dishonesty, or deliberately causing damage to the school premises or accommodation.
- The school expects all students to ahere to the standards and rules we set.
Liability
- Excel English does not accept liability in the case of accident, illness, loss or damage to personal effects or property, occuring on the school premises.
- Excel English does not accept liability in the case of accident, illness, loss or damage to personal effects or property, where accommodation or transport has been booked through the school.
- You will have to pay for any damage you cause on the school premises or at your accommodation.
- We strongly recommend all students buy insurance before leaving their own country.
Other
- The school reserves the right to change published information, including prices, lesson times and terms & conditions at any time.
- The school reserves the right to cancel or alter courses. In this case you will be offered an alternative course.
- The school will make every effort to ensure you can attend the course for which you booked. A course or programme will run with the publicised number of lessons, provided there are 4 or more students in the group. In the unblikely event of insufficient enrolments for a particular course or programme, we reserve the right to arrange a reduced number of lessons or offer a course of equal value.
- The school reserves the right to change teachers at any time during a course.
- VAT (Value Added Tax) is not charged on Excel English tuition fees. If the UK government decides to charge VAT on tuition fees at language schools, Excel English reserves the right to change prices as necessary.
