Unpaid Work Experience / Internship

An unpaid work experience placement is an excellent way to improve your language skills outside the classroom, to observe British working practices, and to add to your professional skills. You can also obtain a University of Cambridge Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) Work Experience Certificate.  Placements can be found in most areas of business and can last from 4 weeks to several months. You should have an upper intermediate level of English (IELTS 5.0 or 5.5) or above, before starting your work placement. 

Excel English can offer you an inclusive 12 week Work Experience Programme, or you can book your English course, accommodation and work placement separately.

Unpaid Work Experience 12 Week Programme

This 12 week inclusive package gives you the opportunity to improve your English and your work skills in one of the major business centres of the world. This is a unique opportunity to find out what it is like to live and work as a real Londoner.  The economy in London is large and very diverse and there are many companies happy to offer unpaid placements to keen and enthusiastic young people.

The programme includes -

• a one month Super Intensive English course at Excel English with 4 weeks half board homestay accommodation.
• a two month unpaid work placement / internship with a London company and 8 weeks accommodation in shared self catering flats in London.
• a certificate of Work Experience
• the possibility of taking the Cambridge Certificate of Work Experience (additional payment)

The price doesn’t include transport in London and the cost of food and drink while living in the self catering flats.

Please note – students should have a minimum level of IELTS 5.5 before starting this course.  Students with a lower level of English will need to add more weeks of English study to make sure their level is up to 5.5 by the start of their work placement.
